Apply
Find jobs matched to your roles, save them to your tracker, tailor a resume and cover letter in each company's format, and move every application through its stages.
Roles and resume
Everything in Apply starts from two things you set once. The roles you target (Backend, Frontend, ML, SRE and 20+ more) decide which jobs and topics surface first. Your resume is the base every tailored resume, cover letter, prep document and Sona answer is built from. Both live inAccount › Preferences: upload a PDF, DOCX or TXT up to 5 MB, or paste the text, and keep several resumes with one marked active.
Find and save jobs
Jobs lists openings matched to your roles and resume. Filter the list, open a job to read its full description, and save it. A saved job goes straight into your application tracker, so nothing you mean to apply to is lost.
Check your fit (ATS score)
Open a job with Check fit & apply and your base resume is scored against it at once, the way applicant-tracking systems read resumes. It costs no AI time. The score out of 100 weighs:
| Factor | Weight | What it checks |
|---|---|---|
| Hard skills | 35 | The tools the job asks for. Required ones count double the “nice to have” ones. |
| Job keywords | 20 | The words and phrases the posting repeats. |
| Experience | 15 | Years asked for against the years in your dated roles. |
| Job title | 10 | The job’s title against the titles you have held. |
| Resume format | 10 | Contact details, standard section names, length, bullets, quantified results. |
| Education | 5 | A required degree, allowing “or equivalent experience”. |
| Soft skills | 5 | Communication, leadership and the like, when the posting names them. |
A factor the job does not ask about drops out. Being three or more years short, or missing a required degree, is flagged as a knockout, because ATS filters often reject on those alone. The verdict: 75+ apply, 55–74 tailor first, below 55 skip, with the fixes that would raise it. Attach a base cover letter and it is checked too: names the company and role, uses the job’s skills, shows a measurable result, 200–450 words, and asks for the next step.
Job profile
Account › Job profile is your structured candidate profile: contact details, experience, education and skills. It can be filled from your resume in one step. Tailored documents and application autofill read from it, so the more complete it is, the less you retype per application.
Tailored resume and cover letter
On any job, Tailor my resume writes a resume and cover letter for that role from your base resume and the job description. Every generated document follows the target company's format:
| Company | Format |
|---|---|
| Google, Amazon, Meta, Microsoft, Apple, Netflix | That company’s own profile: section order, length and emphasis. The format applied is shown on the document. |
| Every other company | The standard ATS format. |
Tools and the words and sentences that match the job description are highlighted, and the result downloads as .docx. TheResume Optimizerchecks an existing resume against a job description instead of writing a new one.
Application tracker
Account › Applications is a board with one column per stage. Drag a card between columns, or change it from its status menu.
| Stage | Means |
|---|---|
| Saved | You want to apply. Saving a job on Jobs puts it here. |
| Drafting / Ready | Your tailored resume and cover letter are in progress / done. |
| Applied | Submitted. The date is recorded. |
| Interviewing | In the loop: prepare and practice for this company. |
| Offer / Rejected | The outcome. Rejected jobs leave your workspace pipeline. |
Email tracking
After you apply, the job page shows your private tracking address. Forward job emails to it and your applications update themselves: a confirmation marks the job Applied, an interview invite moves it to Interviewing and opens that round, and a rejection or offer closes it. Each change appears on the application’s timeline with the reason.
- In Gmail, add the tracking address under Settings › Forwarding and POP/IMAP.
- Gmail sends a confirmation code to it; the code appears on the job page, ready to enter.
- Create a filter for job senders (Greenhouse, Lever, Workday, Ashby…) that forwards to the address. The job page gives you the filter to copy. Outlook users add a forwarding rule instead.
Only forwarded emails are read, and only the sender, subject and a short excerpt are kept. Each detected round (recruiter, hiring manager, coding, system design, behavioral, onsite) gets prep for what it tests, generated from the job description. You can add a round yourself at any time.
Prepare for a job
Prepare for this role on a job opens its prep: an elevator pitch, HR, hiring-manager, coding, system design and behavioral questions for that role, and the topics its tech stack maps to. ThePrep Kitkeeps one workspace per company (job description, resume, pinned intro, stories), and Live answers from it during the interview.
Your workspace
Your workspace is where you land after signing in. It lays Apply, Prepare, Practice and Attend out as one track of steps, ticks off what it can see you have done (roles, resume, saved and applied jobs, topics, mocks, audio setup, Live sessions), and lets you mark or skip the rest. Progress is saved to your account, so it is the same on every device. Each job you are pursuing also gets its own track and next action.
